This committee deals primarily with hot mix asphalt laydown issues, both payment related and technical.

The committee works closely with NYSDOT on the development of new specifications, such as longitudinal joints, compaction and density, ride quality, incentives and disincentives, night paving and new technologies, such as intelligent compaction and warm mix asphalt.

Training opportunities have long been an important responsibility of the Asphalt Committee. AGC offers nuclear density safety training, hot mix asphalt best practices seminars and density inspector certification.

The committee meets on an as-needed schedule.
