2010EPA's Renovation, Repair & Painting RuleMarch 10 — 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Brooklyn The EPA has ruled that contractors who perform renovation, repairs, and painting must train and re-certify in lead-safe work practices before renovating older housing. These strict new EPA rules take effect on April 22, 2010. New certification is required for all home improvement activity that disturbs more than 6 square feet of interior or 20 aquare feet of exterior lead paint in housing built before 1978, and in any child-occupied facility.
TRAINING: (8 Hours) -Renovation firms must have at least one certified Renovator who has completed training and obtained certification from EPA as well as a firm certification from EPA.
Those who have already completed lead safe work practices or abatement supervisor, or worker certification can attend a half-day refresher. Please click here for registration form. Contractors Liability in Green ConstructionMarch 30 — 9am-11am Williams Club - 24 East 39th Street, NY, NY Please join us for a presentation that explores the risks involved in building "Green", including LEED v3, and how the ConsensusDOCS Green Building Addendum addresses those issues. Presenter and AGC NYS member Steven M. Charney, Managing Partner at Peckar & Abramson, served as co-chair of the AGC and ConsensusDOCS committees regarding "Green Construction" and as a principal draftsman of the Green Building Addendum - the first and only industry standard contract document for Green building. Risks inherent in the green building process, such as certifications awarded by non-government entities, new building systems, decertification and whistleblowers, will be discussed. Charney will also discuss the contract document, ConsensusDOCS 310 Green Building Addendum, which responds to many of the risks associated with green building by reducing and allocating roles, responsibilities and liability.
