Membership Categories

The AGC NYS represents about 250 general contractors and construction managers throughout New York State. They are small and large (many on ENR’s Top 400 list), dispersed throughout New York, active in public and private markets, building and transportation, and are of all labor relations types. In addition, we have about 85 Subcontractor Members and 300 Associate Members in the fields of law, insurance, bonding, financial services, consulting, and materials and equipment supply.

The membership has one thing in common: QUALITY. AGC NYS comprises quality contractors providing competitive quality products to public and private owners in New York State. AGC NYS continues to provide substantive and timely services and programs in the same fashion. The continuing support of our membership, even in troubled economic times, reinforces the importance of the association’s mission. 

Contractor  / Regular Membership
A contractor member will be an individual, firm or corporation who, as a prime contractor or co venturer, under¬takes to perform highway heavy municipal and utilities work in its entirety or at least partly with its own contracting forces.

Only general contractors who have been engaged in general con¬tracting at least two years prior to applying for membership in the Association and have established a reputation for skill, integrity and responsibility shall be eligible for membership. Subcontractor / Specialty Membership
A subcontractor member will be an individual, firm or corporation, who undertakes to perform highway heavy municipal and utilities work with its own forces. This classification will only be available providing its prime contract volume does not exceed one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) per year, as provided in Section 2, Article VI and, there is no association by way of the same principal or principals to a general contracting firm actively engaged in the construction industry. Associate Membership
Any reputable individual, firm or corporation able to supply materials, machinery, supplies or service to members of this Association, and who is not associated by way of the same principal or principals to a sub or general contracting firm actively engaged in the construction industry, is eligible for associate membership. Affinity Programs
The AGC NYS and AGC of America has several partnership programs that help reduce costs on affiliated services.  Our most successful partnership program is the Verizon Wireless / AGC NYS discount program.  AGC NYS Members are saving thousands of dollars per year with an outstanding 22% discount off their monthly Verizon Wireless bill.   Last year, over 120 companies participated in the program, and the average projected annual savings per company was over $20,000.  Naturally, that depends on individual contracts and usage, but the savings is really that big.  Click here to view our advertisement.  If you are a Verizon user, you will want to get on this program immediately.  If you are not a Verizon user, contact Jeff DeBeech, Verizon / AGC NYS liaison, for information about their products and services.  In many cases, they can switch from your old carrier to Verizon with minimal or no penalty.
