| Scholarship Program: Student Chapters Student Chapters Along with our sister chapter, the General Building Contractors of New York, the Chapter sponsors 13 AGC Student Chapters across New York State: Vocational-technical, two-year and four-year schools with a construction degree program are eligible to form a chapter. Student Chapters generally engage in such activities as participation in the Associated Schools of Construction regional management competition, field trips to members' job site, and community projects and campus construction projects. Student Chapter Grant Each year since 1997, the AGC has set aside funds to assist our Student Chapters. Activities that have qualified for a grant include field trips to jobsites, Student Chapter competitions (i.e. regional management, concrete canoe, steel bridge, etc.), and the purchase of specific educational materials, such as computer software or hardware. Grant applications must be in writing and should be as specific as possible. Applications are usually received by November 1 of each year, with selections made in December. Chapters have until the end of the current school year to be reimbursed for grant items. The Student Chapter Grant Program is funded through member contributions and our Student Chapter Raffle, held each year in conjunction with the AGC/DOT Technical Conference in December. AGC members donate items, such as DVD players, putters, bicycles, toys, etc. to be raffled. The raffle earns more than $5,000 each year for the Student Chapter Grant.
