| Scholarship & Student Chapters Committee
Since 1988, the Chapter has distributed more than $650,000 in the form of nearly 300 scholarships to college students working toward a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology at a college or university. The Chapter awards more than a dozen $2,500 scholarships each July. Undergraduate students must reapply each year up to three years of undergraduate study; many of our winners each year are repeat winners. Graduate students are eligible for a one-year scholarship if they are studying full time for an advanced construction-related and are intent upon a career in the industry. Applications are received from March 1 to May 15 of each year. The committee also is responsible for the Student Chapter Grant Program, funded through our Student Chapter Grant Raffle at the AGC/DOT Technical Conference and member donations. Each fall our 13 AGC Student Chapters at colleges around the state are asked to submit a grant application for such items as field trip expenses, equipment and travel for student competitions, and classroom items that are unavailable. It is the committee’s responsible to review all applicants for both the Scholarship and Grant programs and make awards. |
